Director Andy Muschietti and screenwriter Christina Hodson are in talks to take over Warner Bros.’s The Flash movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Muschietti was previously reported to be in talks for the Justice League Dark film, and is attached for a live-action version of Attack on Titan – also at Warner Bros.
The writing/directing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have reportedly exited the project, however Ezra Miller remains attached for the lead role. Miller’s script with Grant Morrison was passed over according to THR, and began courting Hodson due to her work on Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
The Flash has already had a rocky road to the big screen, with directors David Goyer, Shawn Levy, David Dobkin, Seth Grahame-Smith, Greg Berlanti, and Rick Famuyiwa all previously attached to the project before Daley/Goldstein, and now reportedly Muschietti.
Warner Bros. is angling for the film to be ready for pre-production in January 2020.
