Jaume Collet-Serra is in talks to direct New Line Cinema’s Black Adam, according to Observer.

Collet-Serra was previously mentioned as the front-runner to direct the then-untitled Suicide Squad sequel (now known as The Suicide Squad), but took himself out of the running in order to direct Walt Disney Pictures’ Jungle Cruise.

Collet-Serra worked with actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on Jungle Cruise, and Johnson is starring in – and producing – Black Adam for New Line so would have been a factor in Collet-Serra’s hiring here.

The director is currently in post-production on Jungle Cruise, with that film aiming for a July 24, 2020 release.

New Line has not announced a release date for Black Adam.
